Diaper Rash Tips

I interviewed mothers about diaper rash and the things they did to help cure their baby's diaper rash.  Here are some of the ideas they shared with me.

1.  Fun in the Sun

In the morning, let your baby run around naked for a while. This gives your baby's butt some much needed air and stops any moisture build up.

 2.  Can You Say Baking Soda

Let your baby soak in a baking soda bath. Make sure you have the industrial size box. After the bath, you can put your diaper back on with a generous amount of diaper cream.

3.  Lose the Fruit

One mother said her baby's pediatrician told here to reduce the fruit her baby was eating. The reason? The acid in the fruit would irritate the baby's bottom when they pooped.

4.  Use Breast Milk

Breast milk is an amazing substance.  Try rubbing some breast milk on your baby's bum. You will be surprised what you will see.

5.  Diaper Cream

Apply a thick layer of diaper cream on your baby's butt.  This is especially true during the night or when your baby is going to be in a diaper for a prolonged period of time. Or you can just change your baby's diaper more often.

6.  Hot Air

Use a hot dryer to dry excess moisture off your baby's bottom.  Make sure to set your hair dryer on the coolest setting.

7.  High Quality H2O

Instead of using wet wipes, try spraying your little one's bum with warm water. It might be a little messy but a lot less irritating.

8.  Can you say 'Lanolin"

Instead of using regular wipes, try switching to sensitive wipes for your baby's sensitive skin.  These sensitive wipes contain lanolin which will help with the irritation of the baby's skin.
